I was so excited to learn there was going to be a series of these clockwork fairy tales. Hazel and Gretel was darker than Beauty and the Clockwork Beast, but that is only to be expected since the original fairy tale was dark as well. The romance between Hazel and Gretel was refreshing and lovely. Of the threats they face in the book, the life they escape from was frustrating, the witch who captures them was frightening, and the irzahara who plagues the forest was very mysterious and threatening. Unexpected sympathy is to be found in these pages (for children and men alike), and the ending was exactly what I wanted (as a special treat, you get more information on the fate of characters from B&CWB)! This book really expands the world these characters live in, and I cannot wait to see more of it in the upcoming this Clockwork Fairy Tale, Iron Heinrich.Product details

Sweet story, loved it.
Another great book by A. B. Keuser! This one is a retelling of Hansel and Gretel, with a lot of interesting twists thrown in. I particularly love fantasy romance as a genre and I think this author nails it!
It is a stand alone novel but it ties in slightly with another book, Beauty and the Clockwork Beast. I'm also really excited to read her next novel, Iron Heinrich.
